You do whatever you enjoy and makes you feel cared for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The notion of Self-Care is just another way of saying you are taking care of your physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional needs. What is the cost of neglecting self-care? Well, it could be very detrimental to your relationships and can even impact your health. As you will discover in today's video, neglecting self-care can also impact how we raise our children. We want to bring up a generation of children who have more compassion, acceptance, and love towards each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Yes, she had held her family together, but at what cost to herself.<\/em><br \/>\u2015 Lisa See, On Gold Mountain: The One-Hundred-Year Odyssey of My Chinese-American Family<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>I thought this quote was fitting for today's post about self-care. Doing things that help you thrive is essential. That may look different for each of us. For me, having a plan on my &#8220;day-off&#8221; helps me feel calmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>A plan is what; a schedule is when. It takes both a plan and a schedule to get things done.<\/em> \u2013 Peter Turla<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>However, going to the doctor (<em>without kids!<\/em>) can be a form of self-care! We've talked so much about this topic, instead of repeating myself, I will refer you to some of our old materials. (<em>See the list at the bottom of this post!)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Keep this in mind: savvy women plan some me-time<\/strong> &#8211; no it's not selfish. You CAN love God, love people, and still, take time for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What I love to do when taking a day to myself:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Going to the Library is on my list because it's so quiet there. <strong>For mom's &#8220;quiet places&#8221; are golden<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I like to go to a <!-- tasty-links-ignore -->coffee<!-- \/tasty-links-ignore --> shop; on my day off, sometimes I'll visit several. Maybe I will even stay until lunchtime. After that, I'll grab some healthy lunch at a local mom-n-pop health shop or farm-to-table cafe or have lunch with a friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another great treat is to go to a juice bar and grab a green juice then hit the greenways or hike a nature trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone can benefit from taking a day to practice self-care, but some people in particular that came to my mind were teachers, moms, caregivers, nurses, and others whose job requires a lot of giving of yourself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I expanded <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/a-healthy-bite-thatorganicmom\/id1324652973\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"false noopener noreferrer\">A Healthy Bite<\/a> to be a <strong>Healthy Meal in order to have a more in-depth conversation with <a href=\"https:\/\/davidessel.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"false noopener noreferrer\">David Essel<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>David Essel, M.
